AN APPEAL TO THE PRIME MINISTER
OF INDIA FROM "RAILWAY SAMACHAR"
Dated : 15 March 2012.
Respected Sir,
The "Paripurna Railway Samachar" a fortnightly newspaper, wholeheartedly support the rail fare hike announced yesterday in the Lok Sabha by Shri Dinesh Trivedi, Minister for Railways, in the Railway Budget for the year 2012-13. The increase is not only long overdue but also modest in its impact. The Railway Budget is also replete with agenda on Safety and Modernisation of the Railways, which will ultimately offer Safe, Secure and Smooth journey to over about two crore railway passengers per day of this country.
"Paripurna Railway Samachar" do not agree to any attempt to roll back the proposed fare hike as it will adversely impact not only Safety of Rail Travel, but also the financial stability and sustainability of the Railways. A roll back without matching subsidy from the General Exchequer will push the Indian Railways to the brink of collapse.
The media hype created against the budget is invented and baseless. Any sane thinking person who wants India to prosper will support the current railway budget as it addresses certain vital issues that go in the interest of nation building. Common man today do not clamor simply if his rupee vanishes from mobile phone and the Indian Media is doing that every day through gimmicks but no one is worried of that huge loss.  Each paise spent in buying a railway ticket brings a lot of value back to citizens.
Honourable Prime Minister of India should show the mettle to appreciate and implement the recommendations of railway budget.
Regards
